Stress can come in different forms, we have emotional stress, chemical stress, working out can be a stress, your environment, and even mental stress.
It’s a well-known fact: Being stressed out can make it really hard to reach your health and fitness goals.
But did you know: Not having enough stress can slow your progress too?
The key is to find your “stress sweet spot” — just enough stress, but not too much — so you can reach your potential without crashing and burning.
To little stress can stop you reaching your goals but too much of it can harm your health.
First understand understand what type of stress it is, is it good stress or bad stress. It could be a numerous of things but until you start to write things down on paper it become a lot harder to understand.
My top tip would be first understand what you might be worrying over, and most of the time we tend to over think things and make emotional decisions.
Secondly look at what you are eating..
That famous line, you are what you eat. I truly believe this, you 100% in control over what you eat and the decisions you make when it comes to your eating habits. Look at the quality of foods you have over a daily basis, then see how this looks over across the week.
Certain foods can cause stress within our gut, and 70% of our immune system is in our gut.
Look at how you handle stress, check out the infographic below from Precision Nutrition.
Start to reach your potential without crashing or burning..
I’m always an advocate to workout as it increases blood flow, burns calories and will stimulate your parasympathetic nervous system. Get a minute of strength & resistance training with some low steady state cardio in and you’ll be feeling a lot better.
But here are some of my tips, to not only to help manage stress but to be more mindful..
1 Set effective goals, break them down into easy digestible mini goals
2 Start with one Action each day, rather than stressing over three or four tasks, put your focus into one. This might be to get a workout in for the day, or perhaps to prep the mornings food
3 Track your Progress: reflect on tasks you have manage to complete, How do you feel different? How do you look different? What are you proud of? What are you Distractions?
4 Spend time with a coach or mentor: Invest in yourself, it will be rewards ten times I guarantee you. Someone who you admire and look up to will hold you accountable and will make the process of growth much easier.
Make sure to have downtime planned in as well, not only is it good to relax but great for seeing results.
