Over the past few years meal prepping has been a staple of my weekly routine. In that time it has allowed me to not go off track, waste money on eating out, binge on foods and more importantly it has got me results.
More so that I've recently completed a 16 week transformation (pictured left) and the secret ingredient to my transformation was FOOD PREPPING.
Now I want to share you my knowledge in how you could get in awesome shape too.
Here's some of my tips..
Time and time again I hear people who train all guns blazing, training 5/6x a week, and then complain that they aren't seeing the results they want. Simply because they aren't putting time into planning and preparation of the most forgotten element that will get you the results you train so hard for. Your food! Or what we say in the industry as your 'nutrition'.
It will determine if you can build muscle, lose body fat, or be well recovered for your training sessions, whatever goal you choose. Now I notice that times are changing, we are more busier than ever and life is too short. But sometimes when you've got a specific goal or event in mind prepping food will make it SOO much easier.
Have a plan!
Having a plan as to what foods you will be having will help you stay on course and get you some awesome results. Food prepping itself will save you time in the long long by stopping you cooking everyday. My best advice is for you to buy in bulk, plan what protein sources you're going to have, what carbohydrates you aim to use and what fat choices to fit in.
Don't make it boring!
You can pick up some pretty decent recipes online, there's some great healthy cookbooks that can give you some ideas but I'm yet to find one with calories included. Because at the end of the day, calories are KING. Flavouring is as you don't want to be eating bland food sources, use herbs and spices. My favourites are jerk seasoning, Piri piri, and paprika. Don't be afraid to use sauces but do so in moderation. A little drizzle over a few meals isn't going to make you put on weight.
Prioritise one day to prepping and cooking food. I like to cook and prep mine first thing on a Sunday morning, get it over and done with. It won't take long I promise and remember! It will save you a lot of time and money in the process. Make sure to buy a good set of weighing scales to portion out your foods accordingly. I would also invest in some good tuppaware to store you food in.
If all of the above is to much for you to do, then there is always a solution. There are some meal prep companies that will save all the time for you! whatever your needs, they can cater for you! Search up yolofoods or elitenutrition into google and you can see for yourself how easy it to get healthy, balanced and tasty foods delivered right to your door.
My aim is to help you stop the guess work! I am in the process of editing my second video on my "How to get Shredded On The Go" Food Shop Series, where I go around supermarkets, convenience stores to pick out healthy on the go foods for you to have.
