WHY YOU HAVEN’T ACHIEVED YOUR GOALS YET IN 2017
In today’s blog I want to talk through a few things as to why you haven’t achieved or seen a result this year. How YOU can make a difference from now, and until the end of the year. So here’s 5 Tips on how you can achieve your goals before Christmas hits.
A few things to note before I go on, I hope that this TRIGGER’S you into taking, action (as this is the first step to any goal)
Please look at this from an open mindset, the difference between having an open mindset and a closed mindset is that you are open for suggestions to take responsibility of your own actions, and more importantly change. With a closed mindset, you tend to look at things more through fear and blame others for your mistakes.
Now the big question that I ask anyone new, that wants to achieve a result and have failed in the past is
Why haven’t you achieved your 2017 goal?
And the most likely answer to this is simply
1. That it is wasn’t a that much of a priority to you.
We do things but order of priority. If it’s not a bigger enough of a priority in your list, you will not get it done. Simple.
So, if you are trying to lose weight or build muscle let’s say, for you to achieve this certain goal. You need to make it a higher priority, in your list of things to achieve. So here are a few things you can do to make it more of a higher priority.
2.You have set yourself an unrealistic goal/time frame.
You need to give yourself a realistic timeframe for you to achieve your goal. Let’s say you want to lose 10kg in 8 weeks. (common goal I hear often). We all know this is not going to happen because you have put yourself under too much of a constraint. If you are looking for more of a realistic approach, one that is enjoyable and sustainable. I would recommend 14-16 weeks, it gives you more than enough time to lose a health amount of weight and a few drinks/meals out with friends or family.
3. Have a good support network around you.
Your current friends suck. Just kidding. Having a good support network of friends who understand your goals can make the process a whole lot better. You don’t want negative sucking people questioning what you are doing, and telling you their opinions. It’s YOUR goal and health not theirs. If they aren’t on the same path to become more, healthier, fitter, muscular or whatever your goals may be. Cut them out.
4. Look at your FOOD intake
Food is information guys, they control a lot of our bodily functions including our health and body composition goals. You are either eating too much or too little. Try to understand the importance of calories and their role to play when it comes to losing or gaining weight. If you are trying to lose weight you need to be in a calorie deficit. If you are trying to gain weight/muscle you need to be in a calorie surplus. I did a video on this on my YouTube and Facebook pages so please hit me a message if you are unsure on calories. We are ultimately controlled by the food we eat, remember the danger is in the dosage. Make conscious eating decisions when you are on the go and out with your friends. Ask yourself, am I eating to fuel and support my goals? Or eating to fill my taste buds and stomach?
5. Enjoy what you do in the Gym!
Too many people are not enjoying what it is they are doing in the gym. Find out what it is you enjoy. Then if it’s not working change it, or if it is then stick with it. I’m a massive advocate for resistance and strength training with all of my male and female clients, as it has massive benefits to match their training goals. If it’s crossfit you enjoy stick to it, if it’s Zumba (question it – joke), bodypump stick it. Whatever it is, try to stick to it and ENJOY it. Don’t be afraid to ask for help, there are plenty of resources out there to help you on your path. I would always seek help from a professional, a master of their craft. Personal Training/Coaching either 1-1 or online would give you tremendous benefits. However, don’t be afraid to just get started on your own first.
I hope these have helped guys, and I hope this blog has triggered you in some way or another to take action before Christmas hits. Remember we only have one body, take care of it.
